Somebodies Dance Theater

Performance with Somebodies Dance Theater that won the San Diego Young Choreographers Prize in 2012.

Title: “left Field” (2012)
Choreography, Text, and Performance by Gina Bolles Sorensen and Kyle Sorensen
Original Score and Performance by Kristopher Apple
Video Filmed in Tech Rehearsal for the San Diego Young Choreographers Prize, Neurosciences Institute, La Jolla, CA

Description: In “left Field,” text mingles with movement, and the line between factual and fictional storytelling is blurred. Employing Umberto Eco’s notions of “opera aperta”, or open work, the dancers provide multiple possibilities for interpretation of the movement, and thereby invite the audience to make their own meaning of the dance.
Choreographers Gina Bolles Sorensen and Kyle Sorensen were recently awarded the 2012 San Diego Young Choreographers Prize for this “beautifully crafted dance theater” work.
